I've divided the instruments listed here into three price categories: Budget price (< $500), mid-price ($500-1000) and high end (> $1000). I know price isn't always the same as quality, but it seemed like the best way to do it anyway.

Tenor banjos

The tenor banjo used to be very popular, but now they're quite hard to find. You won't find them hanging about in every music store anymore.

Five-string banjos

Guitar-banjos

Mandolin-banjos and banjolins

Plectrum banjos

Banjoleles (ukulele-banjos)

Bass banjos

Not much of a choice here (unless you want to make one yourself). Seems Gold Tone BB-400
is the only bass banjo on the market at the moment.
