There are lots of good mid-priced and exclusive high-priced tenor banjos to be found, but what if you're on a tight budget?

Here are a few good quality instruments with very pleasant price tags!

A few words about this list
Gold Tone Cripple Creek Tenor
An affordable, but high quality tenor banjo featuring a simple brass tone ring, 19 frets, maple neck and resonator, double rods, shoe style lugs and a clamshell tailpiece.
Ariana Tenor banjo
A tenor banjo for less than 150 dollars seems too good to be true!
Aria/Ariana has a long reputation for providing lots of value for your money and it seems they've done it again.

Like other Ariana banjos this instrument has nato wood neck, rim and resonators with a High Gloss finish. The fingerboard is made of hard Sonokelin wood. The tuners are open type and chrome plated.

Aria SB100T
Tenor banjo (4 String) at a price to fit the budget minded player. Made from the best quality components and features 19 frets, a Remo head, mahogany resonator and neck, a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and chrome hardware.
Please note that the link takes you to an order page for both the 5- and 4 stringed version of Aria SB 100. You have to manually specify that you want the tenor banjo in the order form!
  • Aria SB100T
    • Dealer: Music123
    • Price: USD 199.99 (Checked 11/21/2004)
Lotus Tenor banjo
This is a 4 string tenor banjo made by Lotus. It features a Mahogany resonator, Remo head, 30 tension rods, a Mahogany neck, Rosewood finger board, Maple bridge, Chrome/Pearloid hardware, and Mahogany finish.
Gold Tone Cripple Creek Irish Tenor
A short-scale version of Gold Tone's Cripple Creek tenor. Don't let the name fool you. Short scale tenors are maybe a little more common in Irish music than elsewhere, but both scale lengths are found everywhere tenor banjos are played, and the choice is more a question of personal taste than musical style.

All the links in the list are "commercial" links, that is sales generated through them leads to a small comission for this site. If you object to this, you can type the URL to the store you want to buy from directly into the address field of your browser.
Also, please note that Musician's Friend only ships within the United States. The other stores included in this list generally ship internationally, but there may be some exceptions.
