 The slide is often confused with the jig, but there are some distinct differences between the two.


Basic slide rhythm

Like the jig, the slide is notated in 6/8 time:

Tempo and Feel

The main difference between a jig and a slide is that the slide is much faster - 150 or more beats per minute. That  automatically means a smoother feel. You simply can't do much accentuation and such in that tempo.


Rhythm patterns

The difference between the jig and the slide isn't really what patterns you play, but how you play them. You can us all the basic jig patterns for the slide, although perhaps you should avoid the ones that empgasize the offbeats too much.
