| | Buying cheap compilation CDs of Irish music can be a bit of a gamble. Much of the time you end up with some really awful rubbish, but every now and then there are some real gems there. Some of these gems are credited to a band named Waxies Dargle. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out anything about them or their banjoist. I'm not even sure if it's a regular band or if it's just put together for the recording session(s). Their repertoire consists of good old songs the Dubliners/Clancy Brothers way. Unfortunately the banjo only appears on a few tracks, but is still well worth looking for. The banjoist definitely belongs to my perosnal list of great Irish banjo players - if I only knew his name!
