Solo playing

Fiddle style soloing usually works well on the guitar-banjo although you'll have to be prepared for a few more awkward string changes than you would on a tenor.

With all those strings it's tempting to look for alternatives though. Plain "classical" guitar style works of course, but perhaps not as well as you may think. Generally you need to be more careful with chord playing than you would on a guitar to avoid too muddy a sound. Dulcimer style is a very good alternative too, especially if you're prepared to do some retuning.
But perhaps the harp style is the one that fits the guitar-banjo best. With six strings you can really play around with cross-string techniques and the added punch of the banjo tone makes it easier to get clear, definied tones and melodic lines than on a guitar.

Accompaniment

All kinds of guitar accompaniment techniques works well on the guitar-banjo. Just be careful not to overdo it. Remember that the guitar-banjo has a lot more power than the guitar!
