Have you tried playing your Ibanez in Viola tuning? That's how they were meant to be played, and they go an octave lower than your guitar goes in "Chicago tuning."
Yes, the thing is a little undersized, but it is solid topped, and, frankly, as big as many of the early Tenor guitars.
You might want to try Viola tuning on it at least once before you spend the money on an upgrade.
Think about it - your viola provides a full sound down to low C, and this instrument is bigger.
