Post subject:  New Dreadnought Guitar Forum and Buyer's Guide

We didn't have a separate forum for Dreadnought guitars until this morning (April 10, 2015). But we've been answering question offline that we didn't have a good place to upload. Plus our sister site, RiverboatMusic.com just published a Dreadnought Guitar Buyer's guide that tells the history of the things.

Dreadnought guitar was a C.F. Martin attempt to get more volume than the guitars of the day (now called "parlor guitars") could produce. They caught on relatively quickly among Bluegrass and C&W fans. By the time the Folk Revival had gasped its last as a movement, many folk-inspired artists had migrated to dreadnoughts as well. Now they're almost the "standard" for guitar dimensions, if nothing else - when importers make cheapy starter guitars, they're more likely to make a downsized "dreadnought" than they are to use dimensions of real historic guitars that happened to be smaller.

If you are a dreadnought guitar fan, have questions, or have photos or stories you'd like to share, please join up and contribute.
