I've been looking for a specific recording of 'Wabash Cannonball' for ages now. (For so long that I'm not even sure anymore if it's not a recording of 'Cannonball Blues' or yet another song that I'm looking for.) Anyway, it's sung by a young woman, possibly from the Carter Family, but none of their versions I could track down so far rings a bell. The thing about the one I'm looking for is that it's sung very, very fast. She's accompanied by a guitar, nothing else, no other singers. Also, she has an extremely youthful, clear voice (I'm very sure that she's in her early twenties or younger). The quality is pretty bad, so I imagine it's an old recording, perhaps from a radio broadcast, perhaps not.
If you have any idea which version I might be talking about, I'd be so happy to hear from you.

I have just scanned dozens of potential recordings (out of a couple hundred I ruled out at the start), and can not find the recording in question. I am curious, do you remember where you first heard it?
When you said "very fast," I though of Hedy West, who tended to play things very fast, but I can't find a recording of her singing that song. I'm very sorry.
Also, I'll post your question on our forum page, and see if we get any hits.
