Bing Futch (awesome dulicmer player - see his Dulcimerica website) contacted me, wanting to do a workshop and concert here (in Utah) next year. Has anyone been to his workshops? I know he does lots of duclimer festivals.

I'm sure he'd do a great job. The hard part around here (Springfield OH) would getting enough of a crowd to justify his travel budget. I can't imagine it being much easier out there.

It isn't easy to scare up a folk music audience out here in Utah, either. It is a small market here (population: 40,000 plus 15,000 college students). But travel budgets are manageable because people sometimes come through and want to stop on the way to/from California ... or sometimes Boise, ID or Arizona.

The few coffeehouses that used to have entertainment in the Dayton Springfield area would often get national groups looking for someplace to land for the night on the way from, say Pittsburg to Indianapolis. Back in the day I saw a number of groups free or cheap that would have cost real money if I'd lived in, say Philadelphia.
