Living in Ohio, I'm used to seeing Celtic-themed bands trying to imitate Irish banjo playing. Some are actually pretty good. But there's nothing like the real thing. I saw them onstage at the Dayton Celtic Festival yesterday (7/25/2014). After all this time, it's nice to hear a banjo-driven band. To uninitiated ears, these guys pick so fast what they play can actually sound like Bluegrass solos, but there are little tricks they can do with mandolin-style picking that you can't do on a Bluegrass banjo. VERY NICE! Thanks for heading our way.

The lead picker, Enda Scahill is said to have two self-published books on Irish picking available

They play banjos made in Galway by Clareen. VERY nice construction. When I asked, they seemed surprised that I hadn't heard of them.

Also, I tracked Enda's books down. Though I found a few copies on Amazon, your best bet is to try Elderly Music. According to Enda, they're the only store in the US that stocks them regularly.
