Recent research in a related field reminded me of a uniquely American guitar that played a key role in the transition between Dixieland and Swing, but which most modern musicians overlook. Worse yet, the name "tenor guitar" has resurfaced in conjunction with a flood of "baby guitars," travel guitars, and oversized ukuleles - totally ignoring the fact that in their heyday Tenor guitars were just as big and as well-made as their six-string brethren.
So I added a new article called "What is a Tenor Guitar?"
http://creekdontrise.com/acoustic/tenor ... guitar.htmNo, I don't have a buyers' guide for these yet. If more than one or two manufacturers get serious about making REAL tenor guitars, I may add one.
