Post subject:  Value of old Autoharp

A reader writess:

I have a Autoharp by oscar schmidt that belonged to my mother. I would like to sell it. How much is it worth and where would i be able to sell it at.

Thanks for getting in touch. Most people who ask me this question have the most common autoharps, which only have measurable value if they can be played without refurbishment or replacing the strings. Age generally doesn't increase the value of an autoharp, especially if it is affected by dust, rust, mold, or abuse.

If you have time, please take a look at my article on the subject: https://creekdontrise.com/acoustic/auto ... _value.htm

It will help you identify the kind of autoharp you have and check the online marketplaces to see what similar autoharps are selling for today.

If your autoharp is a very unusual unit, and you can't find anything on it, please send me a photo by replying to this message and attaching it and I will help you identify it.

Have a great weekend,

- Paul
